Today, Year 6 were invited to visit the Liberal Jewish Synagogue in honour of Holocaust Memorial Day which was celebrated on Friday 27th January.

We were invited and shown around the Synagogue by Susannah, who came to teach us more about Judaism during Judaism Week last term and also Dov, another teacher from the Synagogue.  We had many questions for them today, especially about the Torah which linked to our learning about the Bible during our last Religious Education topic.

As well as learning more about the synagogue, we were also shown the Holocaust memorial, which was very thought provoking and beautiful .

The highlight of our visit today, was having the opportunity to meet and learn from Ann and Bob Kirk, who came to England from Germany as children on the Kindertransport in 1939, to escape the Holocaust. We all felt very privileged to hear their moving story.

Many thanks to everyone at the Liberal Jewish Synagogue to for making us so welcome today and for giving us such an amazing opportunity.  We really appreciate it.
