What a wonderful first week we have had in Year 1! It has been lovely to welcome the children back and see them settling into their new classroom and beginning their journey in Key Stage 1.

Over the last few days, we have spent time getting to know our new routines and preparing our classroom for the year ahead. Together, we created our Class Charter by thinking about the values that we would like to develop as a class, including patience, love and respect. We then discussed how we could live out these values in our everyday actions to help make our classroom a happy, safe and welcoming place for everyone.

We have also enjoyed spending time together playing games, sharing stories and getting settled into our new environment.

On Friday, we began learning more about our House Saints and spent time getting to know who they were and why they are important to our school community. We also decorated our ‘God Is…’ templates with words and pictures that remind us of God.

As part of our learning about ‘My Place in the World’, we explored our local area of Marylebone. Using an aerial photograph, the children identified and labelled our school, our local church and other special places in the area.

It has been a fantastic start to Year 1, and we are so proud of how well the children have settled in. We are looking forward to all the exciting learning and adventures that the year ahead will bring!
