What an amazing day we have had! It was brilliant to see the whole school in costume, and to welcome in parents!

First we had a whole school assembly, seeing everyones costumes during the parade! Our school theme of Julia Donaldson was revealed, and all the Teachers were dressed as a different Julia Donaldson book – Reception were Zog and the Flying Doctors!

Then we had a book themed singing session with Mr Rees, guessing the stories in the songs, and singing all about our costumes, it was great fun.

We had all sorts of activities throughout Nursery and Reception, based on Zog and Nursery’s book: Room on the Broom. We made the Broom with all of the characters from the story, and we made Zog’s gold star award. We also had activities such as playdough to mould into our favourite character, Lego to build a scene from a book, and Princess Pearl’s crown to decorate.

In the afternoon we watched ‘The Masked Reader’ to guess who was reading the Gruffalo! It was so fun. We then spent some time sharing our favourite books, and talking all about why we chose our costume.

It was so lovely to end the day with parents who came in to read with us. Such a special time that everyone loved, thank you to everyone who came in to read with us.

It was a great day! Everyone tried so hard with their costumes, and we all enojoyed reading lots of great books.
