We had such a great day celebrating World Book Day in Year 2!

The day started with a costume parade, where we got the chance to show off our fantastic costumes to the rest of the school. It has been so lovely to be able to come together and share such fun occasions with our school family. A few of us in Year 2 had been able to guess that our theme for the day was Julia Donaldson! Our teachers were dressed up as characters from all of the different books, with our class focusing on the Snail and the Whale.

We had such a great day, as we spent time in Year 3, where we studied The Scarecrows’ Wedding, and we wrote newspaper articles all about the event. We then went to Year 1 to learn all about the Smeds and the Smoos. We then came back to Year 2 to write some character descriptions for the Snail and the Whale. We absolutely loved the different activities and the chance to work with different teachers across the day.

In the afternoon, we learnt some songs about books with Mr Rees and later on, we were so lucky to have our parents and loved ones come into our classes to read with us. Some of us read with our siblings in different year groups, which was so exciting! We loved every moment of our day!
