In Year 2, we love to read!

Today we started our Shared Reading book, which is Cinderella, an art deco fairy tale. We read the first few pages and had to make predictions about the characters based on the pictures and clues from the text. We haven’t seen any pumpkins yet, so it’s different to the classic Cinderella story that we know so well. Although we did just meet her new step-mother and two step-sisters who looked very cruel and mean!

In Year 1, we learnt did lots of Phonics and in Year 2 we’ve been recapping all the sounds. It’s helpful to remember how to sound words out so that when we find a word we don’t know, we can use our strategies to read it.

We are also loving our trips to the library! It was very fun to go and see all the different books and choose one to take home and read. We can’t wait to read them tonight!
