As part of our topic of lent in RE, where we explore Jesus’s sacrifice and what it means to make sacrifices, we have thought a lot of about the cost of giving. We looked at real life case studies showing how people have had to make great sacrifices in order to give to someone who needed their generosity. We’ve discussed why people are willing to make sacrifices to give to those in need and we’ve made links between our own desire to give and the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus at the Crucifixion.

We investigated words that we would connect with giving (selflessness, courage, gift etc.) and everyone  had a go at writing a line or two for a class poem. We all had the opportunity to contribute our lines to the poem all about what it means to give, and I wrote it on the board, which you can see below:
