In our English lessons this week, we have been reading the poem ‘The Tyger’ by William Blake.
We discussed the figurative language used by the poet and identified features such as rhyming structure and the use of questions in the poem. We also looked for clues that tell us how the poet feels about tigers.
Then we planned and wrote our own poems about animals, inspired by William Blake’s poem.

Writing poetry was so fun and it really made us get creative with our writing so we can attempt to write in the style of William Blake. This was the poet we were getting our inspiration from to write our poems.
Writing the poem was very nice and I liked how my poem came out. Also looking at the photos of other peoples poems I loved reading other peoples poems and about how different and amazing all the other animals are.
The Poetry lesson was fun as we wrote the poems inspired by William Blake, this was a fun lesson to learn and I hope we will learn more throughout the year!
I really enjoyed creating our poems inspired by William Blake. I can’t wait to write more poems during the year!
