Good Morning Year 2!

Click here for a printable version of this blog post: English Monday printable

I hope you all enjoyed listening to the Clever Cakes story on Friday. If you have read any other books this week, then make sure you write about them on our Class Reading Blog. This week we are starting a new book that I think you might be familiar with.

We’re only going to read an extract of the book, reading the letters from the red and purple crayons. Click here for the extract (printable The Day the Crayons Quit extract), or use the QR code below to find it using a device.

Now that you’ve read this extract, read the letter from the red crayon again and try to answer these questions in as much detail as you can.

*In question 1, it is meant to say red, not read!

See if you can answer these challenge questions as well:

3. What is red crayon trying to persuade Duncan to do?

4. What do you think ‘overworked’ means?

5. How does the red crayon try to get Duncan to change his colouring behaviour? (think about any words he might use, how the letter has been written or laid out)

6. If you were to give the red crayon a feeling or emotion, what would that be and why?

7. Do you think it is fair that red crayon has to work in the holidays? Explain why (remember, that means using because).

Can’t wait to read all your answers in the blog below.
