Good morning Year 6!

Today’s focus is : Spelling and Handwriting

Today we’re going to practise some spellings and our handwriting. We’re looking at words from the Year 5 and 6 spelling (click here)-I’m sure that you’re missing that!

This website helps to learn how to spelling these words and has some games you can practise.

Have a look at the words below, practise writing them in your book and then, If you can, ask your sibling or parent to test you!

How many did you get right?

Extension:
On the Blog, write a short paragraph or a short narrative including all of the words above.  Plan your sentences first to ensure that they makes sense before publishing it!

When you’re practising your handwriting, remember to start and finish your letters in the right place, sit the letters on the line and remember which ones are tall and which ones hang below the line.

As today is not my usual working day, Miss Coleman/Miss Carruthers will kindly respond to you on the blogs.

Good luck with learning your spellings today!

Hello I got all my spellings right and this is my paragraph:
It occurs that my neighbour is a great nuisance and can’t occupy herself.I tried persuading her to take her free time as an opportunity of going to the park or even to visit parliament but she wouldn’t listen. She is physically impossible to handle, and I have no privilege in looking after her that is why I prejudice that I will stop if she continues behaving this way.

  2. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done for getting all your spelling words right 🙂
A great paragraph – check your use of occurs and prejudice. Some extra words might help it to make more sense (e.g. It occurs to me…)

  3. Hello,
I got all the words right,
    Here’s my paragraph:

As my neighbour is a nuisance and can get physical, I had the privilege of going to parliament and persuade them to do something.
I don’t want to be prejudice but it occurred to me that I had an opportunity to stop the nonsense. But now I need to occupy myself during the wait.

I have a nuisance neighbour and he really can’t occupy with people. It occurs to me that he is not a physical person so I took and opportunity persuading him to go to the parliament by walking and he would be a lot fitter. It is not a privilege to have him as a neighbour and I will prejudice that I will not live in that neighbourhood anymore if no action is taken.

  6. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Aryan – I hope your real neighbour isn’t too much of a nuisance!

  7. I got all of the words in the spelling games right.

    MY PARAGRAPH:
My neighbour can be considered a big nuisance. It occurs to me that they can’t occupy themselves. So I took this as an opportunity to try and persuade the Parliament. I had the privilege of being let in. They tried to make my neighbour do physical things but it didn’t work. I told them I would prejudice trying to help and leave it all to them.

  8. Miss Carruthers says:

    Wonderful work Charles! 🙂

  9. Hello, I got all of my spellings right; here’s my paragraph:

It occurs to me that I had an opportunity to persuade my neighbour to vote for the president, Barack Obama to fight prejudice and white privilege. Protesters can be seen as a nuisance by some people however it is important that the parliament hears them otherwise they will have to occupy it using physical force.

  10. Miss Carruthers says:

What a very powerful and topical paragraph Anahi. Well done 🙂

Hello miss Carruthers! This is my paragraph:

My NEIGHBOUR wanted something to OCCUPY his time; so he took the OPPORTUNITY to PERSUADE the PARLIAMENT to make washing a PRIVILEGE. However, it OCCURred to the PARLIAMENT that he was just a nuisance and he got kicked out. On his way home he PHYSICALly prejudiced a bush in anger of his rejection.

  12. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Laetitia – what a great paragraph 🙂

  13. Good morning everyone,
    Here is my paragraph,
Society is often full off prejudice – it can occur anywhere from all groups. We must not allow prejudice to occupy our lives especially where it often leads to physical damage. Parliament is an institution of privilege – where prejudices can take every opportunity ourselves to persuade people not to be hateful, to not be a nuisance and to be a good neighbour.

  14. Miss Carruthers says:

    An excellent paragraph Antonia 🙂

When I first came to this village my neighbour prejudiced me, and thought I was a nuisance, because I couldn’t stop asking questions about the neighbourhood. She was always trying to persuade me to do some physical sport because I used to spend all day watching a show about birds. In the end it occurred to me that I was being quite annoying, always asking questions, so I took the opportunity to ask her if she wanted to take a walk with me to the Parliament and back, and she accepted. We became friends, and now, every Saturday we occupy my mum’s kitchen, who lives on the same street, and bake cakes.

  16. Miss Carruthers says:

    Brilliant Gabriel 🙂

    here is my short paragraph:

my neighbour is a great nuisance when it comes to getting physical. That is why I take him to parliament to occupy and persuade him into an opportunity which is a privilege .

    Thankyou!

  18. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done for including so many words in your short paragraph. Don’t forget your capital letters at the start of sentences.

  19. Elly(●'◡'●) says:

    Hello!
    Here is my paragraph:
I had the opportunity to be the PM for the day, it was such a privilege to see all of the town from my work window. Unfortunately my mum had been in the hospital to occupy a medical treatment but had such nuisance that she was the only person in the neighbourhood to miss my wonderful speech. I was so angry that I physically prejudiced a rose that I was walking by as I was walking home

  20. Miss Carruthers says:

If you were PM for the day, I am very sure that you would make excellent speeches!

  21. Jeanne Yr 6 says:

    Hello, here is my paragraph:
My neighbor is such a nuisance! He keeps on trying to persuade me that I am so very privileged to have a member of parliament as a neighbor. All he’s ever talking about is prejudice and all the opportunities we have. It doesn’t even occur to him that I don’t want to hear any of it. Even if I go out for some physical excercise to occupy myself, he calls out “Come in and let’s talk about the news. Do you think the government are dealing with covid well?”
And believe me sometimes I just want to be left alone, without government talk.

  22. Miss Carruthers says:

What a great paragraph Jeanne – I must agree, sometimes we don’t want to have lots of government talks!!

  23. Here my paragraph:

It was not a privilege to have this nuisance of a neighbour. I fact they are so annoying I would rather have them occupy another building

  24. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Tim! Don’t forget that full stop at the end! See if you can write a bit more next time, two sentences isn’t quite a paragraph 🙂

  25. Miss Gorick says:

Hi Year 6 🙂 it is great to read all of your paragraphs-well done!
