Hello Year 5!

It is so lovely to see so many of your smiling faces back in school!
For this week’s creative curriculum homework we are going to be looking at P.S.H.E. (Personal, Social, Health and Education).

Lots of us have not been in school for a very long time and there are a few changes in our school.
It is perfectly normal to be feeling a little bit confused or worried about being back after such a long time away.
But is is also nice to see our friends again and have some routine back in our lives.

How are you feeling about being back at school?
Write your answer on the blog.
Then, answer the following question too…

What advice could you give to someone who has not yet returned to school to help them to feel less worried about returning to school?
Can you tell them about the new changes in our school?

I look forward to reading your comments! 🙂

  1. I feels slightly strange about being back at school. I am happy to see my friends but it feels weird to use hand sanitiser all the time. It does feel more normal than I thought it would.

We are not allowed to play IT anymore but that is the only thing that is different. There is a lot work to prepare. Don’t worry too much, be happy.

  2. Hello Martin, thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings.
I am glad that you are happy to see your friends and it is lovely to see you reassuring others that have not returned yet!

  3. Hello miss Lee,

I am not back a school yet due to quarantine as I’ve been on a holiday to the Netherlands, but I am looking forward at being at school and see my friends again. I and my mum have been practising all of my times tables this week and I’ve been helping my little sister with her times tables.

    See you soon on Monday!

    Bye, Tijne

  4. Hello Tijne!
It is great to hear that you have been practising your times tables! We will be doing a times table challenge in class every Friday so it sounds like you are going to be very prepared for next week!
We all look forward to seeing you next week!

  5. Hello miss Lee ,
I feel great to be back at school . I feel confident that I will do well,
and it’s nice to see my friends again after a long period of time. I don’t feel worried and never felt worried in the first place so I hope other people felt like that too. If you still haven’t returned to school yet don’t be worried and stay safe

  6. Hello Emilie!

    Hi Miss Lee,
I am also on quarantine so I am not at school either. I feel excited to go back to school on Thursday and see all my friends again. I hope that school will not have THAT much changes and I hope that I could work normally aswell. I miss school and I will be back soon.

  8. Hello Elisa!
It is great that you are looking forward to coming back to school! We are all looking forward to seeing you and welcoming you back!

  9. Hello miss Lee,
I am really happy to come back to school. It is lovely to see each other after a long six month break. I am over exited of our new topic as it is really interesting. It is quite strange wondering around without seeing any other class than year five and six, however it is better then anything. I am really confident towards my work and enthusiastic as I am trying to have a perfect school year in Class Five. I am sure to having a perfect Year.

For the people which haven’t come back to school yet, I advise them that if they have any worries they should write it in the worry box for some good help by the teachers.

There is a different way to school now , I think you will reconise that on the way to school. We also have three breaks! As you may notice we use way more sanitiser than before. As you might have read earlier on we are in different bubbles. We are in the bubble 5&6.
As Martin said there is no ICT education though I am sure you guys will have fun!!! I mean….
    HAVE FUN!

    (:

  10. Hello Stella!
It is great that you are happy to be back at school!
This is great advice for anyone that has not returned back to school yet!
You’re right, we can’t go to the computer room at the moment but we can still do Computing either as a class activity or using the class iPads so we won’t be missing out!

  11. I am excited to be back at school and to see my friends but it is still feeling a bit odd being in bubbles.

Even though there are still social distancing rules, you shouldn’t worry about it too much.

At school we have to use lots of hand gel and we are in bubbles. Year 5 is in a bubble with year 6.

  12. Hello Clara!
I am glad you are excited about being back at school!
You have explained clearly some of the changes at school, well done!

  13. I would feel rather intrigued, scared but excited to go to school. It was nice seeing you all as well as the teachers, the other students and of course my friends! But the one thing that bothers me alot is social distancing. Although I do understand that it’s for our safety but don’t you get that feeling where you just want to give your friend a tight hug but it’s against the rules not to? Yeah, It’s kinda dull. But what advice I would give to someone is that even if we are apart, no matter what comes in our way, we are there to support eachother, to take care of one another and to be there for each other. We are one big family keeping ourselves to be healthy and safe.

  14. Hello Clare!
It is perfectly normal to have a mixture of feelings about being back at school as we have all been at home for a long time. I am glad that you enjoyed seeing your friends and teachers, we enjoyed seeing all of you too!
I think lots of people are finding it hard not to hug family members they do not live with or close friends too but you are right, we are all here to support each other!

  15. Hello Miss Lee
I am happy to be back at school and see all my friends

A new thing in school is that now you have to use hand gel very often and you cant play with anybody who is not in your bubble .

something great about the school is that if your class is very good or you are finding school to hard u can play with the headmistress puppy called molly.

  16. Hello Nina!
I am glad that you are happy about being back at school!
Good idea to mention Molly! Maybe she will come to visit Class 5 soon?

  17. Miss Lee,

I am happy to be at school and being with my friends even though school has changed a bit.

The different changes about school are that we use a lot of hand sanitiser and we have bubbles. We also only have equipment for our bubble.

  18. Hello Ella!
I am glad that you are happy to be back at school!
We have used lots of hand sanitiser or soap to make sure we wash our hands regularly! Yes and we only share our play time and pe equipment with Year 6 you are right!

  19. I am excited to be back at school because i was getting a bit bored in quarantine.

  20. Hello Rafael!
I am glad that you are excited to be back at school! We are happy to have you all back!

  21. I am very excited to see my friends. I am glad I am learning again. School has changed but that won’t stop me from being back to school. We have been cooped in our house for so long only being able to socialise with family, but now that I can go back to school, I am able to do something different that I was not able to do for the past 5 months.

My advice for the people that are anxious about going back to school is that you have been stuck in your homes for so long that when you come back you have so many things to tell your friends about that you will forget about your anxiety.

  22. Hello Pablo!
It is great to hear that you are excited to see your friends and to learn in school!
I am sure we will all have lots of fun learning new things in each subject!

  23. I’m feeling happy to go back to school because I haven’t seen any of my friends since lockdown started, I think I’ve had a good start to school because I’ve been trying hard on my school work. This is some advice to the new people at St Vincent’s make sure to always follow the rules and listen to the teacher And try not to worry about being back it is all fine just a few small changes

  24. Hello Albert!
I am glad that you are happy to be back at school! You have all been working so hard and it has been wonderful to see all of you back with such positive attitudes!

  25. It feels a bit confusing going back to School after So long. But I am Glad to see my friends again.

I would tell them about the new school there is a one-way system on the stairs and they have to wash their hands a lot.

  26. Hello Raimundo!
I am sure lots of us felt confused during our first week back as there are a few changes we all need to get used to. It is great that you are glad to see your friends again!
Good tips for anyone who hasn’t started back yet!

  27. I am new and I really like this school. I felt a little shy at first (though I tried hard not to show it!) but everybody was kind and welcoming so I’ve settled down eaisily in my first week at St Vincents.

  28. Hello Julia!
I am glad that you have found everyone kind and welcoming! You have settled in really well to our class and to St. Vincent’s. We are happy to have you with us!

  29. I’m feeling very relieved that I’m back at school because for just over 5 months I have been locked inside in my home and not seeing my friends .and it has been six months since I had proper teaching so I have forgotten a little bit of maths.since I have just got back to school,’m starting to get the grasp of not touching anyone, you have to take hand gel every five minutes, and try not to cough or sneeze.

  30. I am glad that you are relieved to be back at school Amarissa!
It is ok to have forgotten some things, I am sure lots of people have and that is why we have our catch-up sessions!
It is ok if you cough or sneeze, just try to catch it in a tissue and then wash your hands afterwards.

  31. Hello Miss Lee,

I feel excited about going to school because I want to see the new things I can learn and I would like to see my friends. The advice i would give is to not be scared and try and wash your hands regularly . This way it will decrease the spread of the disease. Try and do your best in what you can do or even better, what you can’t do.

  32. Hello Holly!
Some great advice here and it is great that you feel excited about going back to school!

  33. I am in quarantine but i am very exited to see my friends again.
The advice I would give is to work as well as is comfortable for you and wash your hands regularly. Then, you should be fine!!!

  34. Good advice Vincent! We look forward to seeing you back soon!
