Hello Class 5!

In Physical Education (P.E.) we have been learning some different football skills.

We first learnt about controlling the ball and then progressed to dribbling the ball in different directions and around obstacles which could be defenders.

Then we looked at passing the ball but practising how to make a controlled pass in a specific direction.

This week we have thought about defending and attacking. We thought about how to move the ball to get to an open space but also how to intercept passes.

Your task this week is to reflect on the different skills we have practised.

Which body parts were we using more?

Design a warm up which would help a footballer prepare for a game but also practise these skills.

You could write your ideas on the blog or write it in your homework books. You might even want to try out your warm up with someone at home. If you do, send in some photos!

Your warm up ideas may even be used in next week’s P.E. lesson!

Have fun!

From Miss Lee 🙂

Remember to write on the Wednesday Word blog HERE.

Don’t forget to do your English and Maths homework too!

  1. 1. First, they would jog on the spot.
    2. After that, they would start passing to another player.
    3. Then, they would Start shooting into each corner directly.
    4. Then, they would start dribbling around the pitch.
    5. After that, they would have a water break.

We use all parts of our body but we especially use our brain because we need to think about our next move. We use our feet to pass and shoot, we also use our head to make a header and we our chest to stop the ball when its really high.

  2. Great warm up ideas to help a footballer practise the different skills of the game! Well done Ajay!

  3. I will send you a picture when I am finished.

  4. Great! Thank you Stella!

  5. Hello Miss Lee,

The body parts we where using more where your feet. The goal keeper uses his hands to catch the ball and his feet to kick it. When you are doing a throw in you usually throw the ball in with your hands as well. When the ball is in the air you can either use your head to get it and pass it to another player or you can try and kick it with your foot. Whilst doing training you can try and bounce the ball on your knee. That exercise uses your knee.

    TRAINING THE PLAYER:
    ———————————-

Try and bounce the ball on your right knee 10 times and then your left knee 10 times. Place some cones down or any obstacles you can find which are suitable. dribble round them and on the last cone turn your ball around and do it again.

    TRAINING TOGETHER:

One person stands on one end of your space the other person stands opposite. one person, (using your head) hits the ball to the other person and the other person has to catch it. Then the throw it back and you then headbutt it again. carry on doing that until you get to ten or if you want to do more you can.

    TRAINING AS A GROUP:

Gather up a few people and form a circle. One of you has the ball under your foot. You say your name and then say the persons name you want to pass to. They then do the same thing except to a different person in the circle. You do that until someone muddles it up and then you start again if you want.

Thank you for reading my presentation.

  6. Hello Holly! Wow this is a very detailed warm up, well done! We haven’t tried to bounce the ball on our knees in class yet, I wonder if we will be able to do it? I like the circle idea too!

  7. The body part you use most in football is your legs to kick and run.

    WARM UP!
    1. 15 seconds running on the spot.
    2. 15 seconds star jumps
    3. 15 seconds spread your legs and touch your toes with your opposite hand.
    4. 15 seconds ‘open the gate’ with your legs.
    5. 15 seconds of frog jumps

  8. Hello William! This sounds like a very effective warm up! We will have to try it out in our next PE lesson!

  9. My warm up is to pass to one of your teammates and then you retrieve the ball back and dribble towards some cones then go around the cones and shoot the ball in the goal you will have to use your feet and mind to complete this exercise and focus

  10. Great ideas Albert! Is this a warm up you use when you train with your teams?

  11. Mayowa(^-^) says:

We have been doing dribbling and passing. The parts that we were using are the leg and the arch ( inner foot.)

A warm-up could be ten squats, running, jump, walk, hop and jog on the spot. They could also do burpees, plank, squat-jump and lunge-jump.

  12. Good ideas Mayowa! These will definitely warm us up! We will have to try some out in our next PE lesson!

  13. My football warm up is dribbling so that i train to keep the ball in my feet so no one catches it and my second football warm up is piggy in the middle because it helps me do faster passes and run if im the piggy.

  14. Great ideas Martin! The piggy in the middle idea is a great way to practise passing and intercepting passes!

  15. In PE we were using our legs(and feet) the most because we were doing football in the lessons.

    The warmup:
First you have to stretch your legs by laying on the floor.
Next you have to run on the spot (or if you have space you don’t have to on the spot) for 1 minute
If you are in goal you will jump for 45 secs.
Now practise bouncing the ball between your legs.
    Last go win that match!!!

  16. Very motivational Rafael! We will have to try out some of these warm ups in Thursday!

  17. 1) run 3 times around the space you’re in

    2) set up a goal and stand a few meters away. Then try to get the ball as close to it as possible.

    3) leave the goal there and then get 5 people to be defenders and try to dribble the ball round them and into the goal.

    4) have one person be a goalkeeper and try to shoot.

    5) stand in two lines and try to pass a ball to the other side then they pass to the next person then continue until you reach the end of the lines. Try beat your time!!!

  18. I love these warm up ideas Vincent! Trying to beat your time is always a good idea because then you can see if you are improving!

  19. I have sent you a picture yesterday. I hope you all like it.

  20. It looks like a fantastic warm up, thank you!
We will be using some of your ideas in our PE lesson tomorrow!
