Today I was the Assistant Headteacher for the school! I was nervous for this day because it was so busy but thankfully, I had a wonderful day. I got this opportunity because my parents won the raffle at the auction. You could get it this year!

The first thing I did was I welcomed everyone into the school. I tried to remember everyone’s names!

Next I had assembly where I welcomed two police officers to come and talk to the school. I felt overwhelmed by the amount of people in my audience but it was very fun having such a big audience. After the police officers left, I handed out the Stars of the Week certificates. I then let all the classes leave the hall.

After, I visited Nursery and Reception who were both doing Phonics lessons. I liked how they learnt. I asked people what they were doing. Then I had my break.

Then I had my favourite part of the day – the budget! I used my budget of Β£50 which I spent on a tennis ball grabber for getting the balls that get stuck on the roof. I also got Korean style cacti for each class from Year 1 to Year 6 and a book for Nursery and Reception. My top tip for looking after the cacti is to give it three cups of water every 2 weeks. Please look after the plants!

After, I visited the lessons in all the other classes. Year 1 were doing R.E. and I liked how they read about a saint. Year 2 were doing handwriting. Some people did specific letters. Year 3 were doing Maths. They were converting pounds into pence. Year 4 were doing Maths. They were learning about money and decimals. Year 5 were doing English. They were learning about the book The Odyssey. Year 6 were doing a workshop about getting ready for secondary school.

After that, I checked on Nursery and Reception lunchtime for behaviour and manners. Their manners were good and I was pleased.

Then I had my own lunch and play. I also had a School Council meeting to make it a VERY busy day!

After lunch I gave feedback to the teachers. I had taken notes on my visits so I shared them with the teachers.

Now I am currently writing my newsletter. It is still work even if it is a different type to my usual lessons!

After, I am going to hand out some sun stickers and go home.

It’s not over yet but what I’ve done I’ve really enjoyed. It’s been nice to be able to experience what somebody else always does in the day – which is a lot of work!
