This week has been a very busy and fun week in a nursery for enterprise week!

On Monday Nursery decided that we were going to make playdough for enterprise week and we decided to call it ‘Happy Dough’ (it’s going to make people happy because of the bright colours and glitter inside!). We even trialed making some to ensure it would work properly, and we all got a chance to test it out and make sure it is lots of fun to play with.

On Tuesday it was time to film an advert to advertise our ‘Happy Dough’ to the other classes so that the students can buy our playdough. We came up with our own clever song, and made some great posters to help us advertise. Next we filmed our song together and then we had to have another go using the playdough (just to make sure it was still working properly!).

On Thursday, it was great to have some parent helpers come in to help us make all of our ‘Happy Dough’. We made all the dough we needed in lots of different colours. We had lots of fun mixing the salt, flour, oil, food colouring, water and glitter and then making sure we had the right consistency. We also coloured in some labels to decorate the playdough. We then packaged up the playdough ready to be shipped off to the correct classes. We had to do some counting to make sure we were packaging the correct number of playdough to each class.

Lastly, today different groups helped me to deliver our playdough to the different classes. Everyone was very excited to receive their orders.

Well done on a busy week Nursery! What was your favourite part of enterprise week?

As promised, here is the recipe for salt dough Christmas decorations..

    250g plain flour
    250 salt
    125 ml water

Mix together to form a soft dough. Roll and shape into trees, holly, Father Christmas, etc. Place a hole at the top for ribbon. Put into the oven, on its lowest setting for around 3 hours. When fully cold use acrylic paint or poster paint to decorate. If using poster, remember to seal with clear varnish. When dry, tie with string and gift to your loved ones.

It’s too early to say Merry Christmas so Happy Crafting instead!
