Wow! What an Enterprise week we have had in Year 4!

We decided that our class company would be called Squish Mania-It’s Squishing Time!

This week, our objectives were to design, create, market and sell our Squish Mania stress balls and see how much profit we could make.

We started our week by coming up with different names for our class company and after a close vote, we decided on Squish Mania. We then had to design our logo and a slogan to go with it. We knew it had to be catchy so that people would remember it.

Next we looked at advertisements and how they are made to be persuasive as their goal is to make you buy their product. We then had a go at writing our own advert using lots of different features so that people would want to buy our amazing product. We even filmed our own advert to showcase our stress balls. You can it watch it here.

We then had to decide what face designs to draw on our stress balls and in Maths we created a tally chart to help us decide the best 3 designs. We then had to turn that data into a bar graph so we could see it more clearly. The results were a smiley, sunglasses and a sticking tongue out face. We also revisited money and practised our calculations involving different money amounts.

On Wednesday, we had a special assembly in which we watched all the adverts from the other classes and then had to decide which products we would like to purchase. We were amazed to see that we had 138 orders!

Then came Thursday which was our product making day, we devised a rotation designing system so that everyone got a turn at putting the flour into the balloons, creating the crazy hair and drawing the smiley faces.  We even got our parents to came in to help us out as there were so many orders! Thank you for your hard graft parents!

Friday saw us delivering our orders to each class, work out our profit before paying back the £30 loan from Miss Coleman (this brought our flour, balloons and yarn) and also write a reflective piece on our week. We worked out that our profit was a staggering £108 which will be used by the class to order what they would like after half term.

This week has taught us a lot! We spoke lots about our learning powers as well as learn how to successfully design, create and market a product. Well done Year 4 for your hard work and ideas!

Thank you to Miss Carruthers for organising such a fantastic week!

What has been your favourite part of Enterprise Week and why?

Year 4, what would be your suggestion to which we should spent our profits on?
