Year 1 have had a brilliant time during Enterprise Week!Β It has been a busy and exciting week with so many different activities and visitors in class.

We began the week by having a whole school assembly, to talk about all the exciting tasks we had ahead of us. As a class we made a vote on what product to make, and we decided on bracelets! The class worked together in their table groups to design exciting and eye catching posters to help sell our bracelets, and display them in our advert. The class all worked so hard and make lovely posters for every table.

During Enterprise week we learn many different things, including the many different coins and notes that are available and what their value is, and all about the process of making, buying and selling, in order to make profit. During our maths lessons we were focusing on money, and Year 1 learnt about each coin and note, this is a tricky concept especially as physical money is not frequently used, so many pupils may not have seen all of the coins or notes before! To support Year 1’s understanding of different jobs that are available, and different ways people make money we were lucky to have parents come into class and share with us all about their jobs! This was so exciting for the pupils, and we all learnt so much. Thank you so much to the parents who came in and talked to Year 1, we are so grateful that you could inspire budding Pilots, Fund Managers and Perfumists!

On Tuesday we had to create and film our adverts, to show in the whole school assembly on Wednesday. This had to be persuasive and clear so the pupils in the other classes knew what we would be making and how much they were! Year 1 worked so well as a class to think about a catching song for our advert, our very own jingle! Each table group sat together with their beautiful posters and thought about what they wanted to say in the advert, to ensure that everyone had the chance to share and discuss their ideas, and have their part in the advert. In the afternoon we worked hard to film the whole class signing, and a clip of each table. Year 1 did well to perform their ideas and be a great audience for their peers.

On Wednesday we watched all the adverts from each class in assembly, and Year 1 were so excited to choose what products they wanted! Then we had to begin making our bracelets ready for our customers. We were so lucky to have so many parents come into Year 1 and help us with the making process of our product. It was so lovely to see so many mums and dads in our classroom, and everyone had a fantastic afternoon. Thank you to everyone who was able to come in and support us, it really brings the week to life and shows how much we can achieve when we work together!

On Thursday we received all of the orders from other classes, so we had a busy day making all of the bracelets, and ensuring we had everyone’s names on them correctly! Year 1 really showed resilience when making their product, as threading so many beads and putting the right names on was tricky work. We also completed our Enterprise Week booklets, where we evaluated our time and experience during the week, after designing and making all of the bracelets.

Today we had to send out all of our orders! Making sure the bracelets and money were in the correct envelopes, before children could deliver them to each class. We also received all the products we bought from other classes, which was the most exciting part! Everyone was so pleased and grateful to receive such great products, that other classes had worked so hard to make.

Thank you to everyone who bought a Brilliant Bracelet! We really enjoyed making them and organising the orders for you all. A special thanks to Miss Carruthers for organising such a fun and exciting week of learning!
