This week is ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’ and the theme is ‘Express Yourself’!

Self-expression is about communicating your individuality. It can help you to showcase your true self – your story, your thoughts, feelings and emotions. We often get told by our family, friends, school, communities and through social media how we ‘should’ look, think, speak, and act. These constant messages about what we ought to do, and who we ought to be, can make it difficult to let go of expectations and express our true selves.

In our Wellbeing session today we focused on the question;

‘What makes you, you!?’

We then reminded ourselves that by expressing ourselves thoughtfully, we can better communicate, collaborate and build a community with others-especially during difficult times.

God created each and every one of us lovingly and intentionally. We are all special, unique and one-of-a-kind!

We then all created a poster depicting who we are and thought carefully about our faith, families, friends, school and hobbies. We are all wonderfully unique! We finished our session with a prayer for uniqueness:

Dear God,

We thank you for making us lovingly and intentionally and creating us just the way we are. We thank you for giving us each unique qualities. We thank you for eyes to see the sky, for ears to hear the birds and for feet to walk through life and for hands to hold those we love.

Amen
