Good Morning Year 2!

I hope you have all had a good Easter holiday. For our English, we’re going to be looking at different extracts of books. Extracts mean that it is not the whole book, but part of it. We will be doing some comprehension, SPaG and writing all based on the book, just like we would do at school!

Remember how important it is to keep reading! I know you all love reading and have lots of different books that you enjoy. Please keep writing on our Reading Diary Blog to share all your great stories.

Our book for the first two week is Clever Cakes by Michael Rosen. If you have a smart phone or tablet in your house, then ask your parents to help you read the QR code below to see the first half of the book. Or I have saved pictures of the pages in the gallery below.

Read through the extract. Today we will be focussing on the first part of the extract. See if you can answer these questions:

Once you have answered those ones, have a go at some of these challenge questions:

1. Look at the first page: “One day Masha said, “Granny, can play outside with my friends?”

a) Why is there a ?

b) What is another word the author could have used instead of said?

2. How do you think Granny was feeling when she was telling Masha about the big bad animal in the wood?

3. Can you write a set of clear instructions for how to play hide and seek?

I can’t wait to read all your answers in the blog below.
